At Bicester ECU, the welfare, safety, and happiness of every athlete is our absolute priority. Cheerleading is about far more than skills and competitions - it’s about creating a positive, supportive environment where athletes feel safe, respected, valued, and able to thrive both on and off the mat.

Our Welfare & Safeguarding Lead is responsible for ensuring that all athletes, parents, coaches, and volunteers have someone approachable and trusted to turn to if they ever have concerns, worries, or need support.

We are committed to:

• Promoting a safe and inclusive environment for all athletes
• Encouraging kindness, respect, and positive behaviour throughout the club
• Supporting athletes’ emotional wellbeing as well as physical safety
• Handling concerns sensitively, professionally, and confidentially
• Ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed in line with national governing body guidance

We understand that young people perform best when they feel secure, supported, and heard. At ECU, we pride ourselves on being more than just a cheer club - we are a community and a family.

If an athlete, parent, or member ever has a concern relating to welfare, wellbeing, bullying, conduct, or safeguarding, our Welfare & Safeguarding Lead is available to listen and help guide the appropriate next steps.
